If it makes you feel better, there are a lot of Americans who never got to see メモリーズ
on the big screen. Heck, I think I'm one of the few who saw a double feature of Manie-Manie 迷宮物語 and サイレント・メビウス . I still wish I could have made it to that screening of Genius Party, though...
